SHERWOOD 138KV POD AND SUBSTATION

Beginning in 2011 Booth & Associates, LLC has been contracted with a chemical processing facility in West Virginia to bring them their Sherwood Substation. Sherwood is fed by two separate 138kV points of delivery tapped from Mon Power/First Energy system which serve fourteen transformers totaling 260 MVA. Nine of these transformers are 138 x 4.16kV, while the remaining five are 138 x 13.2kV. Booth & Associates, LLC commissioned the most recent of these transformer banks in September of 2018. The scope of design for the Sherwood Substation included, Grounding, Protection, Control, Power, Structural Engineering and Construction Drawings; Grounding Studies; Specifications for (14) Relay Panels, (2) Relay Control Buildings, (14) Transformers, (16) 138kV Gas insulated breakers, (2) SCADA Panels, and misc. equipment; Commissioning of the substation, which included developing, installing, and testing of protection relay settings, developing, installing, and testing SCADA control programs. The civil portion of engineering services included the steel design and fabrication drawings for the 138kV dead end structures, bus supports, 138kV switch stands, Cable Tray Bridge, 4.16kV bus work steel design, and 13.2kV bus work and steel design, Foundation Design and Specifications, Oil Containment Design and Specifications. Additionally, there are future projects scheduled to add a third Point of Delivery and three more transformers adding 75MVA of power to the site.
